Fill in the top section of the return with the details of the entity you are lodging the return on behalf of.
- Name: The full name of the individual. When you begin typing in this field, a list of potential matches will appear. Select the relevant name from the list. The icon to the right of the field will change from ‘unlinked’ to ‘linked’. If the name is not already in the list, you can type it in.
- Address/Locality/State/Postcode: This is the individual address and will be automatically populated from the name you select, if it is already in the system. If you are the first to enter the name, you will also need to complete the address.
Filling in the form
Fill in the fields as follows, noting that a red asterisk next to the field name indicates it must be completed before you are able to submit the return:
- Reporting Period: Inform a valid financial year ending 30 June.
- Total Amount of Political Expenditure: Inform the total amount of political expenditure incurred during the financial year. This return is only required to be lodged if political expenditure of more than $5,000 (indexed) was incurred during the financial year.
- Gifts received: Did you receive any gift of more than $5,000 (indexed) that you used either wholly or partly to incur political expenditure or as reimbursement for the political expenditure you incurred? Inform ‘Yes’ or ‘No’.
- Donor’s name: The name of the entity that has given a gift. When you begin typing in this field, a list of potential matches will appear. Select the relevant name from the list. The icon to the right of the field will change from ‘unlinked’ to ‘linked’. If the name is not already in the list, you can type it in.
- Street/Postcode/Suburb/State: This is the address of the donor and will be automatically populated from the name you select, if it is already in the system. If you are the first to enter the name, you will also need to complete the address.
- Amount: The amount in monetary terms that was received. This must include GST where appropriate.
- Description of gift received: Was it monetary, or another form? Describe it here.
- Date received: The date that the gift was received. Note that this may not necessarily be the date that the gift was received. Click on the field to bring up a calendar view, then select the relevant date.
- Select if receive from following: The type of the entity that has given a gift. Was the gift received from: An association? A trust fund or the funds of a foundation? A body corporate? (skip if not applicable).
- Association, Trust or Body Corporate Prescribed Particulars: If the gift was received from: an association, a trust fund or the funds of a foundation or a body corporate, there must be a ‘prescribed particulars’ document. If this information is contained in an online publication that is generally available to be inspected by members of the public. You may provide the web address for the specific webpage where the prescribed particulars may be accessed or inspected.
